Virtual Tours!

We told everyone yesterday that we’re currently working with our friends at MARKIT Group to put together a Google Virtual Tour, as we showed you…

20131114_115425But what is a Virtual Tour?  Glad you asked!  It’s a new part of Google Maps that was implemented not too long ago.  It lets businesses show off the kind of experience customers will have in their stores by extending Google Street View directly into businesses along a street.  What we mean is…

…If you bring up Street View on a Google Map, like, say, of Manhattan’s Upper West Side…

sv1…You’ll notice a bunch of orange dots alongside the blue lines of Street View.  Just hover the little “man” icon on one of the dots…

sv2…And you’ll see that it’s a business, in this case, a restaurant called “Nice Matin.”  Let go of the cursor…

sv3And you’re inside the business, as if you were standing there!  And it’s not static.  Just as in Street View proper, you can virtually walk around and look around…

sv4…Giving you a true 360-degree view of the place before you ever set foot in it!  Even cooler, the Virtual Tour acts as an extension of Street View, so that you can “walk” right off the Street View into the Virtual Tour!

sv5It’s an incredibly fun and useful bit of technology, and we can’t wait to share the Joseph Wendt Custom Clothiers Virtual Tour with all of you soon!
