In honor of a friends upcoming trip to Peru and Machu Picchu I am dedicating this weeks blog to Peruvian Fashion. More than anything, I was just curious. But, then I started reading about it and found it quite fascinating.

When people think of Peru, they think of many things, including Machu Pichhu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, but fashion? I never thought of Lima as a fashion capital, but Peru’s fashion industry is booming and fashion experts are paying attention. Peruvian fashion has captured the attention of international fashion experts and is influencing other major fashion capitals in Latin America, North America and Europe.

According to a recent article published by a Peruvian newspaper of economics, Gestion, the growth of the luxury fashion industry in Lima is expected to reach double digits.

Just a few weeks ago, Lima celebrated its 5th edition of Lima Fashion Week, also known as LIF Week. At the event, distinguished Peruvian designer Claudia Jimenez presented a summer collection that highlights trends such as glitter and white, with the addition of color accents for the Latin woman.

Peru is now recognized for its design and fashion industry. International designers such as Channel, Salvatore Ferragamo, Versace are supporting Peruvian designers.

This Memorial Day, Travel in Style & Comfort

Aside

First of all, where did May go? I can’t believe I’m writing about Memorial Day Weekend? Soon enough it will be July 4th and then the kids will be back in school! If you’re like me, you’re getting ready to pack for a long weekend. We recently started caring a wonderful women’s travel line, Anatomie. If you haven’t tried it out, you must stop in the store. Women are raving about the line. It’s comfortable, wrinkle-free and stylish. You can’t go wrong there.

Plus, Anatomie offers the perfect clothes for the plane and your entire trip. The line isn’t too fancy, but it keeps a sense of style that you need anytime you travel.

Here are some tips from Anatomie’s Fashion Blog to get you to your destination in style:

Comfort Tip #1: Travel in Layers! travel clothes for women

Traveling in layers gives you options and when your closet is at home. The more options you have the happier you will be. Plus, you’re most likely traveling between two different climates, and who knows if you’re going to be stuck on a plane with no AC or freezing air blowing at you. Good comfortable travel clothes that you can use for layering include: a washable cotton scarf, cardigan, sweatshirts, light vests, and light jackets. Plus, the more layers you have on your body, the less you’ll have to pack in your suitcase!

Comfort Tip #2: Choose the Right Fabrics

When it comes to choosing comfortable travel clothes, breathable materials made from natural fibers are best. You want to pick clothes that are wrinkle-free, quick drying and offer a little stretch. comfortable travel clothing marie tee

Comfort Tip #3: Neutrals, Neutrals, Neutrals!

It is highly recommended that you choose a neutral color scheme, and specifically darker shades. Colors like black, navy and grey usually tend to be more flattering than other colors, and they also offer more forgiveness when it comes to unwanted dirt and accidental spills.

Comfort Tip #4: Pick the Perfect Travel Jacket

Picking the right jacket for travel is essential. A comfortable travel jacket is usually one that is in a dark shade, which makes it easy to mix and match with many outfits.

NFL Draft 2014 – Fashion Recap

The 2014 NFL Draft did not disappoint. The best part of the Draft is the realization that the NFL season is nearly upon us! But as we know, the Draft is more than about football. The red carpet is rolled out and these men show up in one-of-a-kind custom suits. For more than 20 years, Joseph Wendt Custom Clothiers has worked directly with professional athletes including over 100 NFL players and head coaches. So, as you can imagine, I have a vested interest in seeing what the up and coming stars are wearing.

Justin Gilbert made a big statement showing up in a light-colored suit for an evening event — but it without a doubt paid off. Gilbert looks amazing and fresh in his light blue ensemble, and the red accents in his pocket square and tie are the perfect slash of color!

Mike Evans also got lucky with his color combinations. I admire his bravery to mix patterns between shirt and tie.

Southwest Florida’s very own Sammy Watkins kept it simple and classy with his draft-day outfit, and the subtle plaid pattern of his suit made it one of my favorites of the night.

Jadeveon Clowney knew well before the draft that he was going to be holding up a Texans jersey, because that tie matches the his new jersey well. The rest of his accessories are sleek and simple.

CJ Mosley is making a bold choice with the patterned bow-tie and light suit. I’m always happy to see a non-black suit make its way into the sea of traditional mens formal wear.
