Great Gifts for Groomsmen

If you plan to get married, you’ll need a new suit. Apart from that, your groomsmen will need suits as well! It’s important not to forget about them, as most times you will notice the groom and groomsmen matching. Once you pick your style and color, all you need is for each guy to get fitted for the big day.

Now that each groomsman is dressed to the nines, you’ll want to give him a little something for coming out and being part of your wedding. Gifts for groomsmen can be as simple as a gift card or elaborate like a custom cigar case. It’s important to figure out what they all will like and use. We’ve got some ideas if you’re stuck in a rut, or are too busy trying to figure out where to seat your family members during the rehearsal dinner.

Skills Every Guy Should Know

There are some things we are born with, and some things we have to learn. For guys, there tend to be a few basic skills we learn at a young age. These include fishing, hunting, and knowing when to stop talking in an argument. As we age, we start realizing there are many other skills we need to learn, either from someone else or have to teach ourselves. In this age of YouTube, you can find a tutorial on almost anything. You don’t really need to know any skill in too much depth, it’s just a click away.

But there are plenty of basic skills you should know because you won’t always be near a computer. If you don’t know the following skills, take a few hours to learn them. It will save you tons of time, money, and headache in the future.

Changing a Tire
This is a given! There will come a time when you need to change your own tire, or want to help a stranded driver. It will save you a lot of money as well. Having to call a tow company to change your tire can cost much more than you think.

Changing Oil
Getting the oil changed in your car is a must. It can cost over $100 at an auto shop, but doing it on your own it will cost just the oil and tub for clean up.

How to Match Clothes
If you want to make a great impression, a stylish outfit is needed. If your clothes don’t match, you may not notice, but others will.

Stop a Running Toilet
There’s no need to call a plumber for this simple fix. You will save tons of money by learning to fix this mess.

How to Filet a Fish
If you are a fisherman, you should know this skill. You will be able to safely consumer any fish you catch if you learn to filet one.

How to Drive Stick Shift
Even if your car isn’t a stick shift, it’s fun to learn. Maybe you’ll become a valet and need to know this. Or maybe you will inherit a Ferrari that only runs in manual.

The World of Menswear for Women

It seems like a growing trend, but women wearing more male-centric clothes has had a place in history for many years. Nowadays it may seem more prevalent as general attitudes toward people wearing different styles has loosened a bit.

Females would be able to pass easily as men by sporting male clothing and a short hair cut back in the 1800 or early 1900s. But now this is such a common style of dress (especially in cities), people don’t pay it much attention anymore.

The 1920s were filled with androgynous styles. Particularly for women not wanting to wear dresses. But after WWII, when women were sporting military styles, traditional notions of femininity came back into the forefront and menswear for women went back into hiding.

There are now startups catering specifically to making men’s fashions more female friendly. These companies mainly tailor suits and dress shirts to fit female bodies. Before, and still today, women who want to wear menswear have to shop in the men’s section. These clothes tend to be ill fitting for many women.

This trend is referred to by some as Tomboy Fashion or Style. This is a very popular style of dress in Taiwan, as well as the US. Buzzfeed has a great article citing some Instagram accounts that have tomboy style posts. These include singer Ellie Goulding, and US Women’s Soccer player Ashlyn Harris.

Although many masculine women prefer this style of dress, it’s not just for them! Take a look at these photos and you’ll see how women’s and menswear is colliding…. and looking amazing!
