The Best and Worst Dressed NFL Players

Here at Joseph Wendt Custom Clothiers, we have a bit of an obsession with football. We can’t wait for the season to hurry up and get here! Our love for football has even landed us a few big name clients. Former NFL Star and Current TV Anyalyst, Michael Strahan wears our suits! St. Louis Rams offensive tackle Jake Long also ordered his wedding wear from us. NFL superstars Darrelle Revis and Adrian Peterson also got their custom suits from Joseph. We love combining our passion for the NFL with our love of creating great-fitting suits.

Kerry Rhodes

There is a huge movement in sports for athletes to look professional both on and off the field. Players that used to wear ill-fitting clothing for press events, are now ordering custom three piece suits. We love seeing these athletes in perfectly fitted suits, especially ours!

Larry Fitzgerald

Now that so many athletes are expected to wear fashionable clothing, there is a growing trend of creating their own look. Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals has been known to rock three piece suits. He also adds a bit of flair with bright shirts and pocket squares. Fitzgerald’s teammate Kerry Rhodes is also known for his off the field style.

Terrell Suggs in a not so formal, black tie outfit

Although there are many NFL stars making fashion statements off the field, many are not hitting the mark. Terrell Suggs made an impression at a black tie event, though not a favorable one. His white blazer choice puzzled many. Who wears a white blazer with dark black stripes? He also didn’t bother tying his bow tie. Michael Vick didn’t bother wearing a full suit for this event. Luckily nobody in the crowd could see his legs or those sandals! We hope he has a full suit for events where he’s not standing behind a podium.

It’s important for NFL players to present themselves well off the field. Many NFL franchises are paying for their star power. Being well dressed is an important part of this persona. Any athletes out there reading this should definitely come to Jospeh’s for their custom suit needs! Just ask any of our former clients how much they love their outfits.

No Shave November

UnknownHave you participated in the annual “No Shave November” event? It takes place each November, most likely thanks to alliteration, and requires participants to do just one thing: not shave the whole month. It is open to both men and women, though it is likely more geared towards men. Learn about the origins of this interesting event.

Origin

No Shave November started as a Cancer fundraising idea by two friends in 2009. The idea was to have people forgo shaving and instead donate the money they would have spent on grooming. The idea is also to embrace our hair, which many Cancer patients lose during treatment. It started as a Facebook page with only 50 participants. The event grew in popularity and in 2013 the American Cancer Society partnered with No Shave November to raise even more funds and promote Cancer awareness. They are now a web-based, non-profit with a large fanbase.

How to Participate

It’s easy! Grow your hair freely during the month of November. Donate the money you would spend on grooming to help the fight against cancer. You can sign up solo or as a team on their site (http://www.no-shave.org/#!get-involved/clse). You can also donate straight to the American Cancer Society or purchase No-Shave November gear with proceeds going to the ACS. There are shirts, hoodies, and bracelets. Use the hashtag #LetItGrow to show your support on social media sites.

Are you ready for some football? As the upcoming football season is scheduled to kick off on September 4th many of the NFL greats are gearing up to look their best pre and post-game. Fashion has been an integral part of professional athlete’s lifestyles throughout the sports industry. For years, NFL players have come to Joseph Wendt Custom Clothiers as their go-to custom clothier for suits and dress shirts.

I was recently in Atlanta visiting with Matt Ryan and Roddy White to see how they are preparing for the upcoming football season and fit them in some great new suits.

Matt Ryan is the starting QB for the Atlanta falcons. He is a seven year veteran who has thrown for over 153 touchdowns and over 20,000 yards. He has always had an eye for fashion and I’m grateful that he has called upon me to give him some advice on what to wear this upcoming season. Matt and I have been collaborating on his sense of fashion for a couple of seasons now and have really found his style. His style includes everything from well fitted suits for those post-game interviews to everyday casual wear.

Roddy White is a wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons. He is a 10 year veteran who has over 9,000 receiving yards and over 50 receiving touchdowns. Roddy White decided to join Matt Ryan and I on finding the latest fashion craze for the upcoming football season. His style is very fashion forward which will make him stand out in any post-game interviews. While at the same time he is looking for new and upcoming fashion trends.

There are many professional athletes that I have worked with throughout the years. From former NFL Star and TV analyst Michael Strahan to NLF stars Darrelle Revis and Adrain Peterson.. and these are just to name a few.

Best Dressed in 2013

All of the big fashion magazines have weighed in with their “best dressed men” list of the past year, and some of the choices were universal, like Justin Timberlake, who showed up on virtually every list, or Idris Elba, one of our favorites.  Others were a bit more unexpected, like Esquire‘s insane/brilliant choice of Pope Francis as the “best dressed” of 2013!

We’ve compiled a gallery of our favorite choices from the selections of all of the mags, to put together our own “best dressed” celebrities list.  They are in no particular order, because picking a single “best” out of this group would be one of the most difficult choices imaginable.  This was a great year for menswear! Let us know who you think should be in this gallery, and who shouldn’t, and who you think was the best overall!
