It’s time to take back Halloween! Stop succumbing to the last minute grab and dash costume run the few days before Halloween. “Oh, I’ll just get whatever.” This is usually turns out not to be a great costume.
Maybe you don’t like dressing up much. Makeup is hard to put on, admit it. And it’s a pain to take off as well. Other costume sets can be quite expensive, who knew an outfit for just one day a year would be close to $100!
But you don’t have to settle for “Joker #2” or “Prison Guy” costumes. You can utilize your wardrobe and a bit of ingenuity to create a costume you’ll be happy with.
Here are some ideas to help spur some inspiration.
Marty from Back to the Future
Jean jacket, red puffy vest, button down, faded jeans, sneakers. That’s really all you need to pull of the Marty McFly look. It’s effortless! Add in a hoverboard and you’re golden.
This one may need a bit of explaining to friends if they’re not familiar with the movie. All you’ll need is a black suit, white button down, and a skinny black tie. Oh and don’t forget the sunglasses.
Brawny Paper Towel Guy
If you have the hair and flannel shirt, you’ll nail this look. Just carry around the paper towels for added effect. (Via Brit + Co)
Ryan Gosling in Drive
You’ll need some driving gloves, fitted pants, and a white jacket. Having hair similar to that of the Driver (Ryan Gosling) is a bonus point.
Bill Lumbergh in Office Space
Everyone should be able to pinpoint this costume. What’s needed? Suspenders, blue button down with white color, loud tie, and large glasses. Carry the mug around and spout quotes and you’ll win the costume contest!
The Dude from The Big Lebowski
You can either sport a white shirt and tan robe with pajama bottoms, or switch out the robe for his infamous sweater. You choose, ’cause you’re The Dude. It helps if you have longer hair.
